M.Sc. Project Topic :
“Studies on green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Acalypha indica Linn. (Indian nettle) leaf extract and evaluation of its in vitro anticancer activity”.
Description :
Nanoparticles may be defined as particles size in the range of 10-100nm. Nanoparticles show enhanced activities due to surface area to volume ratio.
Objective of the study – Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Acalypha indica leaf extract, UV-Visible spectroscopy of silver nanoparticles, evaluation of anti-bacterial and anti-cancer activity of leaf extract and silver nanoparticles.
Results :
(1) Anti-Bacterial assay of aqueous extract silver nanoparticles-
The biosynthesized silver nanoparticles showed anti-bacterial activity on Gram negative and gram positive Bactria and the anti-microbial potential was assessed by agar well diffusion method resulting in zone of inhibition
(2) In vitro anti- cancer activity (MTT Assay)
The biosynthesized silver nanoparticles using the leaf extract were examined for anti-cancer activity against Human Breast cancer cells (MCF-7 Cell lines) the results suggested that silver nanoparticles reduced viability of MCF-7 cell lines in dose dependent manner.
The synthesized nanoparticles exhibit excellent Anti-cancer activity in comparison with standard drug Cisplatin.
Conclusion – The synthesized nanoparticles have potential anti-cancer application in Nano-oncology.
