Applications of UWNs range from oceanographic data collection to disaster prevention. UWNs are vulnerable to attacks and because of their idiosyncrasies; security solutions for ground WSNs might not be applicable underwater. As a result, there is a need for mechanisms exclusively tailored to underwater environments. The security mechanism TSSR is composed of a secure routing and a set of cryptographic primitives aimed at protecting the confidentiality of data in underwater communication while taking into account the unique characteristics and constraints of the acoustic channel.
