Project Title :
Development of transient hot wire apparatus for measurement of thermal conductivity of heat transfer fluids
Project Description :
A new and improved THW apparatus for thermal conductivity measurements of common fluids and nano fluids has been recently developed, designed and fabricated. A platinum wire with Teflon insulating coating was used as the hot wire heater and temperature sensor for the present application. The wire acts as a heat source and produces a time-dependent temperature field within the test material. The wire serves as both heat source and the temperature sensor.
In this project we are using the Wheatstone bridge circuit for heating the fluids and differential amplifier is used to calculate the out-put. Heat transfer fluids play important roles in many industrial sectors, including transportation, chemical process and energy supply.
