Antimicrobial activity of Honey
Honeybees and honey known to be man from the very beginning of history. It has an honored place in several religions of the world. Honey is a readily available source of glucose fructose. Honey is characteristically quite acidic & its Ph being between 3.2&4.2.The major antibacterial activity in honey has been found to be due to hydrogen peroxide produced enzymically in the honey.The type of flower that has the source of nectar determines the nature of antibacterial activity of honey.
For the determination of antibacterial activity of honey, Dabur and Local honey samples were used against four clinically isolated organisms using antibiogram method. The study concluded that dabur is the best honey with any other local brands.Personal Profile :
