Research Experience :
1. M. Pharmacy Project (Aug 2013 – July 2014) :
Guide : Dr. Ravindra K. Rawal
Title : Molecular modeling studies on non-purine xanthine oxidase inhibitors and Design, synthesis and evaluation of 3-aryl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid derivatives as xanthine oxidase inhibitors.

Summary : The prima facie of our research study was to develop significant safe and potent anti-gout agents by bridging the techniques of computational chemistry with synthetic chemistry. Computational studies were performed on a series of non-purine analogs which illustrated the significance of various groups in the alteration of activity. Based on these observations various other analogs were designed, synthesized and evaluated for their efficacy as xanthine oxidase inhibitors. Some of the evaluated compounds showed their efficacy at par with allopurinol which is in alignment with our computational results.

2. B. Pharmacy Project :
Title : Literature Survey on BCL-X gene association with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Summary : The project work illustrates the effect of BCL-X gene in causing Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (HL). On combining a wide amount of research data by various eminent groups of scientists it was taken into account that BCL-X gets transcribed into two mRNAs of different sizes via alternative splicing. The larger protein product of one mRNA (BCL-XL) functions as a PCD repressor whereas the smaller mRNA species (BCL-XS) is seen to be capable of encoding a protein which is further capable of accelerating cell death. The larger fragment, BCL-XL, is hence a potential contributor to the pathogenesis of malignant lymphomas as this mRNA is predominantly expressed by the neoplastic cells in majority of the cases.
