Project Title :
Design and Development of Experimental Setup for Thermal Analysis of Bellows.
Project Description :
Bellows are devices which are particularly used in applications where there is a presence of thermal stresses and vibrations .Examples include Heat exchanger tubes. Due to vibrations and thermal stresses the pipe can get damaged and its fatigue life could get reduced. Thus introduction of a a bellow in the pipe would absorb both vibrations as well as compensate for fluctuating thermal stresses.
The outcome of the project was,
1.
Experimental Setup was designed and fabricated for Bellow Thermal Analysis.
2.By the help of calculations we were able to conclude that the heat transfer rate increases when we attach a bellow in series with the pipe than using only pipe in cases where quick heat transfer between fluids is required.
