Research/Project experience/s :
A miniproject had been done in Microbiology subject on Isolation, characterization, identification and enumeration of bacteria from waste water sample under Dr.
Priyadarshi Sahu at KIIT University.
A 6-month project had been done on CEES enhances the cytotoxicity in macrophages cell under Dr. Arttatrna Pal at KIIT School of Biotechnology.
Description :
CEES [2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide] , a chemical warfare bifunctional alkylating agent, which plays an important role in SM-linked oxidative stress.SM exposure can cause significant blistering of the skin, respiratory injury, and fibrosis. CEES produces a large amount of ROS, makes the cellular defence mechanism weak and plays a major role in the development of lung injury and different forms of cancer.Due to this oxidative stress, there is an imbalance between the generation of oxidants and the oxidant scavenging molecules.
The main aim was to study the effect of SM(i.e to see the cytotoxicity in macrophages cell) and evaluate the oxidative stress. We also focused on the activation of few pathways which were triggered due to antioxidant condition because an antioxidant neutralizes the free radicals. Finally COMET and DAPI staining technique was performed that due to high dose of CEES treatment, under normal condition ,the DNA of the cells are intact, but when we increases the dose of CEES, it s
