MAJOR PROJECT :
Title  : COMPUTER BASED REDUNDANCY OPERATION OF TRANSFORMERS
Abstract  :
Transformers which are erected to share the load initially may be sufficient to meet the load and in due course it needs additional transformers to share its load as the demand increases. The present system of sharing the load is manual and permanent sharing only. This results in losses and failure of transformers. To overcome this, in the proposed project it is planned to operate the required transformers only, through PC, to meet the required load and keeping the rest as reserve.

Sometimes in a vital areas like generating station, Aeronautical applications etc. more than one transformers are used to share its vital load by keeping one at delivering load and rest of the transformers will be auto standby redundant mode to cut in when the active transformer fails or its status goes bad.
Sometimes in vital areas like generating station, Aeronautical applications etc., and the transformer which is used to deliver the load is very vital and should not be interrupted at any cost. Interruption in many cases may be avoided by keeping reserve, and the same may be operated in redundant mode. Suitable coupler arrangements are made to operate the sources as and when required. Presently these operations will be achieved using electrical interlocks with the aid of breaker auxiliary contacts or with suitable relays. This hardwired system sometimes fails due to breakage at any stage. In this project the same could be achieved with the aid of computer which serves a better reliable redundancy operation.
