<b><u>PROJECT WORK  </u></b>:
<b><u>Project Title </u></b>: Fabrication of a Potential Flow Visualization Device
<b><u>Abstract </u></b>: The main objective of the project is to fabricate the flow-visualization device and to understand the potential flow fields around the submerged bodies which we cannot see with our naked eyes. The laminar, two dimensional flow is a good approximation of the incompressible potential flow of ideal fluids. The laminar, two dimensional flow is achieved by water flowing at low velocity in a narrow gap between two parallel glass plates. There are two tanks at the top in which one of the tank is filled with water and another one is filled with dye (potassium permanganate KMnO4). The streamlines are displayed on the glass plate by injecting the dye. In experiments, the flow around submerged bodies is demonstrated by inserting models into the parallel flow. Interchangeable models such as circular cross-section, triangular section, rectangular section, airfoils etc.
